Healthy Snacks for NYE2020 Parties

When we’re talking about snacks, especially those at a holiday party, the words ‘healthy‘ and ‘delicious‘ don’t usually go hand-in-hand. It doesn’t have to be that way.

It’s OK to have the favorites we’re accustomed to, however, this is a plea for the healthy alternatives that can fuel your little ones through the new year’s celebration without the guilt that follows traditional smorgasbords.

Find something they love? Make it a healthy routine that can be shared with family and friends throughout the year. Or suggest it for the kids who want to make healthy snacks part of their new year’s resolutions.

Below are a few options to consider — with links to recipes — and we welcome your comments on healthy snack options you’ve introduced in your home.

B.Y.O.T. Bar (Build Your Own Toast)

A loaf of bread. Ricotta cheese. Jellies of all kinds. Oats. And diced fruits across the spectrum.

Yes, even kids can join the “anything on toast” craze and it doesn’t have to be with avocado or grilled figs to be a hit.

For instance, when you toast the bread and use the ricotta and jelly as a catalyst, you get a customize-able, protein-packed snack that’s fun to build, yet healthy.

Spiced Almonds (Or any nuts/seeds)

Almonds are a super food and packed full of protein. Above all, tasty when baked and topped with a seasoning of your choice.

Can’t decide on just one flavor? Try a few and have a variety for your little ones, and if you’re trying the B.Y.O.T Bar be sure to add the almonds as a potential topping.

Here’s a recipe that can be adapted with the toppings you prefer.

Baked Apple Chips

No dehydrator needed. Just slice your favorite apple, any type will do. And set the oven to 225 degrees and set aside roughly three hours for the entire process!

Roasted Sweet Potato Bites

Frozen Blueberries

Not exclusive to blueberries, any fruit can be a fun finger-food on its own, or paired with Greek yogurt.

Recipe? Blueberries. Freezer. Patience. Serve and sit back.

Baked Green Bean Fries

A healthy alternative to french fries, and likely a party favorite with both the young and old, these baked green bean fries only take four (4) ingredients.
