Troubleshooting: How to fix a 404 page error
A 404 page error can be the result of a few things… a page that no longer exists, a changed page name, or sometimes can be the result of an unexpected modification of your site’s HTACCESS file.
Here are a couple ways to troubleshoot…
- Check to make sure the page exists on the backend and that the permalink (URL) you see for the page exactly matches the hyperlink (URL) of the page on the front end. If they don’t match, you can change the permalink for the page by editing the page, or double check the menu item to make sure it’s pointing to the appropriate page or URL.
- Contact us at [email protected] and ask us to re-save your hyperlinks. This will “reset” your HTACCESS file and typically fix the 404 error. Be sure to tell us your name and website and we will have it fixed in no time!
